SMART MOTORS tire reviews

Here are some latest reviews from SMART MOTORS clients. No matter whether they are positive or negative if you want to make a right choice you have to read and consider all of them. Only then you can be sure that you get the best service from professionals and there are no reasons to worry.
  • ·         Samuel Wade: I've twice had problems with my vehicle that slipped by my regular mechanic - one of which was a very dangerous issue. In both cases, I had just gone in for tires, but they caught the other problems. Needless to say, I've changed my regular mechanic, and I've made SMART MOTORS my regular tire shop.
  • ·         Spencer Dean: The staff, particularly the shop foreman Jack went beyond professionalism. They are a great, caring group of people who give great service at a fair price.
  • ·         Robert Farmer: They are very customer friendly, have good service, and good prices.
  • ·         Jonah Freeman: I bought Michelin tires from this company about three years ago and I purchased the additional road hazard plan with the tires thanks to Midas muffler oil change coupons. Recently my husband decided to drive over some pipes in the middle of nowhere and tore the sidewall of the tire - which meant it was not repairable. I took the tire in the next day and told them I purchased the additional plan. Without any hassle, they prorated a new tire and I was back on the road. The men at the shop were helpful, courteous, and defended my husband. I frequently go in and have my tires rotated for free- an added benefit for purchasing your tires there.
  • ·         Spencer Reynolds: Got my tire pressure light to turn off where 2 other shops weren't able to and replaced the bulb in my gear shifter that others had ignored. Gave an honest evaluation of brake pad condition (good) after Jiffy Lube (now doing brakes in Santa Fe NM) advised me that the pads were dangerously thin.

2UZFE engine characteristics and tuning

2UZ-FE: Engine Basics

In contrast to previous model 1UZFE, 2UZFE has got an iron cylinder block. In such a way the reliability was increased. It is not a secret that 2UZFE was created for powerful cars like Toyota and Lexus SUVS, so the weight didn't matter. The design is pretty much the same as in the 1UZFE. 2UZ Fe headers are 90*V8 made from aluminum. There are also 32 valves that transfer the power to the camshafts since the filters are not hydraulic, a special valve adjustment is required. A special lubrication is also necessary, with Jiffy Lube synthetic oil the engine will live longer.

Cars That Came With The 2UZ

2UZFE was designed especially for Toyota cars, However, the 2UZ FE was also installed in the Lexus models like GX470 an LX470. Toyota cars that have got 2UZFE: Tundra, Sequoia, Land Cruiser, 4Runner.

2UZ-FE: Performance Data

Toyota made a great work to achieve such results. For years they were trying to improve the performance, torque and of course fuel efficiency. The most influential change was implementing VVTI performance parts, which gave additional power to the engine. So the basic 2UZFE performance looks like this:
  • 230 hp at 4,800 rpm
  • 302 lb-ft at 3,600 rpm
After minor changes, it received +2hp and 9 lb-ft. Toyota's VVTI system gave a grat boost to the performance:
  • 271 hp at 4,800 rpm
  • 315 lb-ft at 3,400 rpm
In the later versions the performance is like this:
  • 282 hp at 4,800 rpm
  • 324 lb-ft at 3,400 rpm
As you see, in total 2UZFE has got additional 52 hp and 22 lb-ft. The best results they achieved thanks to the VVTI implementation.

2UZ-FE: Tuning Potential

For those who dealt with tuning this section will be the most interesting. This engine is a perfect one if we are talking about upgrading. Since this one is actually a copy of the 1UZFE, most parts can be easily installed. For example, the Terminator Cobra supercharger can make 380+ hp at 6 psi. Building the bottom end with installing the lower compression rate pistons will give you 440+ hp at 10 psi. Improving the intake manifold and using different turbo kit will boost your engine greatly, so as a result, you can get LS470 instead of your LS400.

1UZ-FE vs 2UZ-FE

The major difference is that 2UZ engine has got a larger displacement. 4.7 instead of 4.0 gave the low-end torque which is necessary for large SUVs. 1UZFE had a full aluminum block, while the Toyota 2UZFE has a cast-iron one. We will not mention other minor differences, but we should say that these two engines were installed on different types of cars, so if you decide to get one from sale think twice why you are taking exactly this model.

Summary

Overall, despite the fact that the 2UZFE and 1UZFE have so much in common, Toyota 2UZ FE turns to be more powerful, stronger, it has a smaller size in comparison to other competitors. Still, it is one of the best engines for tuning.
